MINDFULNESS:
In this video, Dr. Rebecca Harvey discusses how mindfulness meditation supports our work in therapy. Mindfulness helps us focus on the present moment, even as our distracting thoughts and feelings arise.
By developing a mindfulness practice, we learn a lot about ourselves and learn to observe with acceptance and non-judgement. Mindfulness, much like therapy, develops the brain structures to support emotional regulation, utilizing neuroplasticity, neurogenesis, and synaptogenesis.
Practicing daily mindfulness, developing a mindfulness meditation practice, or working with a psychologist skilled in these areas is an effective way to support your efforts of managing emotions and creating positive, lasting change in your life.
