Optimize Your Life With Dr. Rebecca Harvey

beccasmallsAs the founder of Total Wellness Consultants, my goal is to create a highly personalized therapy experience for my clients, tailored to each client’s individual needs.   Psychotherapy is considered successful when you achieve the goals that you have set for yourself.   In a supportive and pleasant atmosphere, I will help you attain the personal growth you’re striving for, based on your personal goals.

I provide psychotherapy for adults, young adults and couples aimed at optimizing your life through mind-body connection awareness.

My Treatment Specializations:
Depression and Anxiety Management
Sexual and Relationship Concerns
Post-Surgical Adjustment
Health and Fitness Goals
Gestalt (Existential) Interventions
Pain Management and Somatic Interventions
Neurobiological Interventions for Emotional Regulation
Mindfulness, Meditation, Yoga and Chakra Awareness Training

For shorter-term, situation specific clients, we will work to increase your focus, examine your options, and decrease personal obstacles.

For long-term clients desiring a deeper level of therapy, we will work together, exploring how your past experiences affect your current behavior. I will help you examine your thoughts and feelings as we explore strategies for optimizing your life experience.

I also provide specialized pre- and post-surgical therapy for individuals who have elected plastic surgery or weight loss surgery. Weight loss and plastic surgery can offer an exciting life transition but occasionally some aspects of that transition become difficult to navigate on your own. I will work with you to address personal and emotional issues that may naturally arise as a result of this exciting life change. Additionally, for weight loss surgery, we will develop a personalized plan for your new life, to increase adherence to your weight loss goals.

Formal Education and Experience:
My education in psychology began at California State University, Northridge (CSUN), where I earned my Bachelors of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology. I went on to Pepperdine University, where I earned my Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology and began working with therapy clients. I followed that degree with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) from Pepperdine University. My psychology experience thus far has placed me in a variety of settings, ranging from private practice and community mental health, to hospitals and prisons. Having worked with a very diverse population of clients, I offer a non-judgmental and welcoming therapy style that puts people at ease.

My background in mind-body work began in 2000, at the National Holistic Institute in California, where I trained as a certified massage therapist. Since that time, I have worked in multiple gyms teaching various formats of fitness classes, while simultaneously pursuing my own passion for maintaining balance through physical fitness.  In August of 2013 I completed the 200 hour yoga teacher training at Dallas Yoga Center deepening my knowledge of mind-body connection.

I am licensed in clinical psychology in the state of  Texas, having moved my private practice work from Newport Beach, California to Dallas, Texas in 2011.  I love what I do and I look forward to helping you enjoy your life more with each passing day!
